But before we go on any further, we would like to share with you a story.....which we are sure will inspire you as it did us. The story which was told to me was quite a long one, it lasted for about twenty five minutes, but I will make mine short - because I know that your time is valuable.....
The importance of training....... The story is about two lumberjacks who were in a huge tree-chopping contest in Canada. On this particular day of the final, each lumberjack was placed into a single square of forest. The idea was that they would chop trees from dawn to dusk and at the end of the day, the wood chopped would be weighed and the winner was the one who had chopped the most wood. As the starting horn sounded, both of the lumberjacks began chopping with all of their might. The first one chopped all day long, only pausing briefly for a short lunch break. At the end of the day he had chopped down over 50 trees. He remembered with a smug grin that about every ten minutes, his competitor had stopped chopping wood - he could tell this because it went quite in his area, until after around five minutes when he heard the sound of him chopping again. The first lumberjack was very confident that he had won. After all, the two of them were well matched in fitness - they had been chopping together many years and he knew that he had won, simply because he had hardly stopped, whilst his rival had stopped 5 or 6 times each hour. At the great weigh in, it was discovered that in fact the second lumberjack had chopped down the most weight in wood. In fact, he had managed to chop down over eighty trees, which was more than fifty percent more than his rival the first lumberjack. "How could that be?" the first lumberjack asked himself. He was dazed - he simply had not been ready for this outcome. During the truck ride over to the staging area he had mentally spent the $10,000 prize money and now he was left shocked. The first lumberjack was glum during the award ceremony and afterwards the beer was flowing and the huge crowd was beginning to warm itself and it was clear that there was to be the customary party during the evening. During a lull in the celebrations the two lumberjacks found themselves standing outside in the cool starlit night with the muffled sounds of festivities coming from the main banqueting hall. The loser looked into the eyes of the winner, and he quietly said, "How come you managed to chop more wood than me - when you stopped for a rest every ten minutes?" "I didn't stop to rest" replied the second lumberjack, "I stopped to sharpen my axe".
